The FileMaker Pro Menu Bar

The menu bar along the top of the screen is similar to menu bars in other Windows or Mac programs. The menu choices include:

File ... Open, Print, Save a Copy As, Import/Export, Exit, etc.

Edit ... Copy, cut, paste, spell check your data entry.

View ... Use this menu to move among modes ... Browse, Find, and Preview. Also use this menu to move from viewing records one at a time (View as Form) to viewing a list (View as List) and to the new View as Table style. Also use this menu to view or hide toolbars, the text ruler, or other features.

Insert ... Use this menu to insert today's date, current time, or the contents of the previous record.

Format ... Use this menu to format the text you type ... you can change typeface, color, etc.

Records ... Use this menu item to create a new record, delete records, view all records, or other related items. The "Replace" comment is now on this menu. Records, replace is like an Edit, Replace in word processing. It is irreversible and must be used with great care!

Scripts... Use this menu to run custom scripts that are available in each file. A script is a mini-program or routine (like a macro in other programs). Many of the scripts are readily available as buttons, so you'll only occasionally use the script menu. This HELP file is available through the script menu or the Help menu from any table in the database. The first script in each file is "Main Menu." As a shortcut, you can always click Ctrl-1 to run the script that brings you back to the main menu.

Window ... you can use this to move from one file (or window) to another. All of the currently open files are listed here.

Help ... use this to open Help or to see the About screen.
