Merging the WBLP data from Microsoft Word into the School to Career Database
- Open the completed Word document. On the menubar, click Tools, then choose Options. In the dialog box, choose the tab for "Save." Then CHECK the option to "Save data only for forms." NOTE: Change this setting back to UNCHECKED as needed.
- On the menu bar, click on File, Save a Copy As...
- Give it a name (based on the name of the participant and/or company and/or date. The data only will save into a text "*.txt" file.
- Close the Word document and open the School to Career Database. From the Main Menu, open the Work-Based Learning Plan file.
- On the menubar, click File, Import Records, and in the dialog box, specify the ".txt" file that you just created. Click Open.
- In the Import Field Mapping dialog box, specify "Creation Order" in the "Arrange By" box and click OK.
- In the Import Options box, "Perform auto-enter options..." should be checked. Click IMPORT.
- The information from the Word document will be imported into your database.
- From the WBL Menu page, click OPEN to open the plan and use the "Next Page" buttons to go from page to page to look at the information.
- When you are satisfied, click Records, Show All Records on the menubar. Or, if you are not satisfied, you could click Records, Delete Record (carefully) to delete the record you just imported.
