key topic Topic 16 - Student IDs

STUDENT IDs: The Student ID used in the database must be a unique number and must be used consistently for all database records for that student. It can be any number, including:

  • A number you create by clicking the orange arrow button to generate an ID (THIS IS THE OPTION MOST PEOPLE USE)
  • The Locally-Assigned Student ID (LASID) plus a 1 or 2 letter prefix to specify the school and avoid duplicates between schools
  • The State-Assigned Student ID (SASID)
  • The Registrant ID from the MOSES system
  • A number you make up based on the student's initials and the record number
  • Or any other unique number.
